The Systemic Inflammation Marker NLR as a Prognostic Factor in Complicated Colorectal Cancer

چکیده

Many recent scores based on the inflammatory response, such as Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR), Platelet (PLR), Monocyte (LMR) have been demonstrated to a prognostic value in cancer patients. The ratio between neutrophils and lymphocytes is very useful tool, most studies admitting its role marker cancer. We made retrospective study 391 patients hospitalized operated emergency for complicated colorectal Surgery II clinic of "St. Ap. Andrei" from Galati, Romania, 2008-2017. that increased preoperative NLR was negative factor long-term survival with (HR = 7.581, 95% CI (6.358,9.039) (p 0.000000)). cut-off point > 2.61, sensitivity 73.61 specificity 100.00. mean time < 2.61 39,676, (37,189, 42,163) those it 12,504, (11,747, 13,261), difference values above cutoff below being statistically significant 0.000000, Log-Rank).

Is Bax/Bcl-2 Ratio Considered as a Prognostic Marker with Age and Tumor Location in Colorectal Cancer?

Background: Bax and Bcl-2 are the major members of Bcl-2 family whose play a key role in tumor progression or inhibition of intrinsic apoptotic pathway triggered by mitochondrial dysfunction. Therefore, the balance between pro- and anti-apoptotic members of this family can determine the cellular fate. Methods: In this study, the relative level of mRNA expression of Bax and Bcl-2 genes was deter...

Evaluating the Expression of Oct4 as a Prognostic Tumor Marker in Bladder Cancer

Objective(s)The key transcriptional regulator Oct4 is one of the self-renewal and differentiation-related factors in cancer stem cells, where it maintains "stemness" state. Cancer stem cells have been identified in a variety of solid malignancies. They are a small population of tumor cells with stem cell characteristics, which are a likely cause of relapse in cancer patients. Due to high incide...

SMAD4 as a prognostic marker in colorectal cancer.

More than 50% of patients with Dukes C colorectal cancer have disease recurrence and die within 5 years after surgical removal of their primary tumor. It is currently not possible to distinguish patients with good and bad prognosis. SMAD4 is an important tumor suppressor gene that mediates transforming growth factor-beta superfamily signaling and is located in chromosome 18q21, a region with fr...

Inflammation, a Key Factor in Cancer Ambush

Inflammatory condition is the consequence of defensive mechanism of immune system against viral and bacterial infection, tissue injury, UV radiation, stress and etc. Persistently acute inflammation leads to chronic phase which is characterized by production of pro-inflammatory mediators from T cells. These molecules (e.g. IL-6, TNF-&alpha, IL-1&beta and IL-17) are mostly pleiotropic cytokines i...

Inflammation-based score (Glasgow prognostic score) as an independent prognostic factor in colorectal cancer patients

PURPOSE This study was conducted to evaluate the systemic inflammatory response in colorectal cancer patients, and to estimate the usefulness of the Glasgow prognostic score (GPS) as a prognostic factor. METHODS Patients with biopsy-proven colorectal adenocarcinoma who were operated between April 2005 and December 2008 were enrolled in this study. The GPS was estimated based on the measuremen...
